Anton Schrodl was born in Schewchat, Austria on 24th February 1820.

He did his artistic training at the Vienna Academy and in his early professional life, travelled to Germany and Hungary but on his return, he settled in Vienna and remained there until his death on 5th July 1906.

Schrodl was an animal and landscape painter producing works of mountain and Alpine scenes of his native country together with farm and rural subjects showing agricultural, domestic and hunting animals.

Museums where his work can be seen include: Munich, A Landscape; Vienna, Ram on a Moor, Cows before a Byre and Two Sheep in a Stable.
