This artist was born on 9th June, 1837 in Cuesmes-Les-Mons and had his artistic training as a pupil at the Mons Academy.
He was best known as a painter of genre subjects and of floral still lifes, but also produced a number of landscapes. The Mons Museum has some of his works in its collection. He died on 12 th April, 1884 at Ixelles-Les-Bruxelles.
Condition Report
The picture is in good condition and as it was when purchased on the Continent.
The frame is an original gilded Louis XVI.
