Mary Vernon was a Birmingham artist who specialised in still lifes rather in the style of the Norwich painter Eloise Harriet Stannard.
Most of her exhibited paintings were from the early to mid 1870s and the majority of them depict flowers. She showed them at the Royal Society of British Artists in Suffolk St, London and the Society of Women Artists, sending them from addresses in Church Hill Road and Stamford Road, Handsworth, then Livingstone Road, Birchfield, Birmingham.
However, the earliest recorded exhibited work was "Fruit" at the SWA Titles of other exhibited works include: "Pheasants", "Asters and Verbenas", "Primulas", "Roses", "The Flower Stall" and "Camelias and Geraniums" which were all available for sale priced between £4 and 8 guineas.
