Karl Adloff was born in Dusseldorf in 1819. Little is known about his training as a painter but he became well known for his architectural and country scenes.
Many of his paintings depict views of Dutch canals the painting of which gave him the opportunity to display his skill at portraying the play of light and reflections of water.
Adloff is also known for his architectural views.
Examples of his work, View of Dordrecht, 1852, and Morning Landscape, 1861, can be seen in the museum at Dusseldorf
